This project was done for BMXer Nigel Sylvester inspired by some previous collaborations with mutual friends Dee & Ricky. The bike is from Nigel’s first GO video and is wrapped in a vintage Louis Vuitton garment bag from the 80’s. The dust bag for the shoes was even reworked to be a dust cover for the seat.

The patterning and placement of the LV pattern was very carefully planned out. The frame, cranks, seat post, seat, forks, headset and bars are completely wrapped.

It was the centerpiece at a pop-up at Procell in NYC and has been pictured in the December 2017 Vogue shoot with Pharrell Williams.

Here is what Nigel says about the concept on his website. “This first installment of the project is an ode to Louis Vuitton, a master craftsman from France who began designing one of a kind travel trunks in a workshop on Rue Neuve des Capucines in Paris during the 1850’s. The number 218 represents the home of Nigel’s grandmother, where he first learned how to ride a bicycle in her driveway. This art piece marries the classic monogram canvas and the BMX bicycle, a vehicle that is very personal to Nigel. Both those elements exhibit the importance of dexterity, the canvas material which represents luxury, durability and timelessness and the BMX bike with its functionality, must be strong in order to excel.”
